ECAM designs products, apps, solutions, and enclosures. Whether it’s a new idea or reverse engineering of outdated products. Custom enclosures can also be designed and built.
Our 6 Step plan to Product Development
Project managers and engineers will work closely with you to define the scope, usability, and functional requirements of your product.
- The steps to achieve the solution are planned.
- Analysis will be tabled to help the client first to market.
- Assessments will provide the client with a competitive edge.
- Patent documents if required.
- A statement of work is drawn up.
Extensive research follows the consultation to ensure that the client’s specifications can be achieved.
- Continuous client interfacing.
- Mechanical Design
- Electronic Design
- PCB Layout
- Package Development
ANALYSIS & IMPROVEMENT
The Prototype is scrutinized and subjected to tests. You will receive a prototype for your own testing and validation. Refinements can be made to the hardware or firmware.
CAD ENCLOSURES & PACKAGING
An enclosure is CAD designed for the prototype with personal markings and/or branding. Multiple options for material used for enclosure manufacturing
- 3D Printed
- Mild Steel
Depending on the requirements, our engineers can bring the prototype to a third-party lab and oversee testing and procedures for compliance.
*note that this is a costly procedure and ECAM cannot always guarantee the outcome of the certification, the process might have to be repeated.
When prototype is finalized and/or certified it has now become a product. Typical deliverables supplied for manufacturing are
- Bill of materials
- Test procedures & test jigs
- Quality Control requirements
- Cost of material
Typical cost for such a cycle excluding manufacturing is usually between R80 000 – R100 000 on a product which can be delivered within 3 months of agreement. See below for typical breakdown.
|R&D (depending on hours, size and difficulty of project)||R20 000 – R30 0000|
|Materials||R10 000 – R20 000|
|Documentation||R10 000 – R20 000|
|Certification||R20 000 – R30 000|
*It is very difficult to estimate pricing on unique solutions
